Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Technology and Chairman of Kingsoft Corp., introduces Xiaomi's Mi Mix 3 and the special Palace Museum Edition smartphone during the launch event at the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, in Beijing, China, 25 October 2018. Xiaomi on Thursday (25 October 2018) announced its newest flagship smartphone, the Mi Mix 3, at an event in Beijing. The phone packs a host of notable features such as a bezel-less display with a slider design, dual front-facing cameras, up to 10GB of RAM and 5G support, among other things. The price of the Mi Mix 3 starts at 3,299 yuan ($525) for the 6GB +128GB variant and goes up to 3,999 yuan for the 8GB + 256GB model. Xiaomi has also announced a special Palace Museum Edition with 10GB of RAM that will cost 4,999 yuan ($719). This variant is expected to arrive with 10 GB of RAM. Xiaomi has recently launched the Black Shark Helo as the world's first smartphone with 10 GB of RAM. This variant of the phone is dubbed as Sports Edition of the Black Shark Helo and it includes 256 GB of inbuilt storage. The Mi Mix 3 sports a near bezel-less display with a 93.4 per cent screen-to-body ratio. There's no notch on board nor any siginificant bezels around, allowing for a 6.3-inch FHD+ (1080x2340) AMOLED display that takes up the entirety of the front panel. The display supports 600 nits brightness and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has opted for a traditional slide-out mechanism that requires you to use your fingers to slide the screen down and the rear panel up to reveal the dual front cameras. It differs from the Find X which works on a motorised mechanism that automatically raises the top portion as you unlock the display via face unlock or when opening the camera app.
